When I was preparing for my retirement from the Civil Service the personnel department named three firms of independent financial advisors that they used for retirement planning.

I arranged home visits with an advisor from all three firms, including RPA, and provided them with the same information regarding my financial situation and through discussion, requested written advice on a prudent course of investment. My wife also wanted financial advice on her own behalf and took part in all the discussions.

Of the three firms only two inspired any degree of confidence and of these Mr Forbes was our clear choice as the person to advise us. Over two subsequent visits, each one followed up with a letter from Mr Forbes setting out clearly the assessment of risk for the recommended courses of action, an investment strategy was decided and implemented.

Mr Forbes’s advice was clear and well presented and he took great trouble to ensure that both my wife and myself thoroughly understood the pros and cons of each investment. Since setting up our investments Mr Forbes has kept in touch as he felt the situation warranted and was able to give useful advice on unexpected items. When my wife retired this month we had no hesitation in asking for Mr Forbes advice on the investment of the lump sum involved.

In conclusion I am very satisfied with the professional financial advice provided by Mr Forbes and RPA and would recommend that anyone in similar situation to myself to consult him.
